Prayers for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

In celebration of 70 years of service, today we are sharing 5 prayers for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

In 2022, Queen Elizabeth II became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee. This means that she has served the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms as Queen for 70 years.

Queen Elizabeth II is the longest-lived and longest-reigning British monarch, the longest-serving female head of state, the oldest living and longest-reigning current monarch, and the oldest and longest-serving incumbent head of state (Wikipedia, 2022).

As the United Kingdom celebrates this special anniversary, let’s take time to remember Her Majesty The Queen in our prayers. If you’re not sure where to start, or are looking for some new prayer ideas, here are 5 prayers for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Dear God, thank you for the life and service of Queen Elizabeth II. Thank you for bringing her safely to her platinum jubilee, marking 70 years on the throne. For her commitment to her country, for her leadership, for the time and energy that she has dedicated to her role. Thank you for her faithfulness as head of the Church of England. And for the encouragement that she provides to Christians across the nation.

Thank you that you created her, and knew her before she was even born. Thank you for the personality, humour, strength and steadfastness that you have given to her. For the way that you have guided her and carried her through difficult times.

Thank you for all that she continues to do today and will do for the entirety of her reign. Amen.

Prayer for The Queen: Health & Life

Dear God, just like we all do, The Queen faces the many challenges that come with growing older. We ask that you will continue to be with her as she meets these challenges head on. Protect her from serious illness, and bring healing where it is needed. Keep her safe from harm and give wisdom to the doctors and medical teams who care for her.

We pray especially for her mental health, as she grieves the loss of her husband. Comfort her and strengthen her.

May her life continue to be healthy, fruitful and full of joy. Amen.

Prayer for The Queen: Her Reign

Dear God, as The Queen continues to serve you and her country, we ask that you will guide her and give her courage. Reveal to her the right words to say, the right actions to take. Give her wisdom, compassion and patience as she carries out her duties, as she meets with other leaders and as she leads us.

Show her also, when it is good and wise to delegate responsibilities. When the workload can be shared by those around her. And when rest is needed. Amen.

Prayer for the Royal Family

Dear God, we pray for the royal family, that they will continue to support The Queen throughout her reign and will carry out their own duties with integrity and strength. We pray for those in line for the throne, that they will be prepared for that time when it comes and that they will follow the example set by The Queen.

Protect them from harm, and give them all wisdom, courage and a heart to serve. Direct them, and help them to serve with honesty, kindness and compassion.

For the children of the Royal Family, we pray that you will be with them as they grow, that they will know you, and that they will become good and responsible leaders. Amen.

Prayer for the Country

Dear God, we pray for the United Kingdom. Protect it from harm, and help us as it’s citizens to care for this nation and all who live here. Help us to be a nation known for fairness, peace and justice. Show us how we can play a role in improving this country now and for generations to come.

Be with this nation as we celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. May this be an occasion of great joy and unity, bringing communities together and breaking down barriers. Bless us with good weather, safety, and the opportunity to share your love. Amen.
