McGannan Family

A few weeks ago, we were very lucky to have Arnold the Praying Penguin stay with us for a weeks adventure. Once Arnold was settled into his new surroundings, we tried to make sure he was never lonely! William and Sabrina sorted out a sleepover rota for Arnold (he was penguin popular) then we had dinner all together. Arnold was passed gently to each member of the family for them to say grace and to say what we were thankful for that day and we all said a prayer for Jenny (Arnold’s owner) to help her not to be lonely without him.

The next day Arnold came on the school run and when we were all together in the evening, after dinner, we chose a bible passage to look at and pray about. It was one of Sabrina’s favourites when Jesus was resurrected and he made the disciples breakfast on the beach. We found a lovely clip about it on Netflix, The Bible Series as it brought something extra to the verse as we could see all the characters and imagine how Jesus and his disciples possibly looked and acted.

The next evening, we saw that Arnold’s latest blog had been released and it was all about his top 12 worship songs, so of course we had to have a listen! We did this over the next couple nights with Arnold as some the songs were requested more than once. Ever Be was a definite favourite and The Lost Get Found came in a close second. We also introduced Arnold to some of our favourite worship music such as Give My All by LZ7. The best thing I felt that came from having Arnold stay with us was that Sabrina started a lovely prayer diary which gives you a warm feeling when you read it and how it just gave us all an extra element to our family prayer time around the dinner table.

I had a wonderful time spending the week with the McGannan family and really enjoyed spending time reading the Bible and praying with them!
