Read: Colossians 3:1-17
Reflection: What directions for your life can you see within this passage? Ask God to direct you to where he wants you to focus. Verse 12 & 13 give us some very clear instructions on how we should be:
“be gentle, kind, humble, meek and patient. Put up with each other, and forgive anyone who does you wrong” – Colossians 3:12-13 (CEV)
How do you think each of these traits could be demonstrated in your daily life?
Verse 14 says:
“Love is more important than anything else. It is what ties everything completely together” – Colossians 3:14 (CEV)
In what way do you think love ties everything together? Do you agree that love is the most important thing? How could you demonstrate love more in your life?
Read: Luke 6:27-42
Reflection: What do you find challenging about this reading? Verse 29 says:
“if someone slaps you on one cheek, don’t stop that person from slapping you on the other cheek” – Luke 6:29 (CEV)
What do you think this would look like in practice? What makes this difficult for you to do?
Read verses 32-36 again. How can you show your love to those who do not love you, are not kind to you or who will not pay you back?
Do you ever find yourself judging other people? What do you judge about them? Jesus teaches us not to judge other people, but to forgive them. Is there anyone you need to forgive? What is stopping you from doing this?
